THE IMPACT OF COVID ON PROTESTS AND POLITICAL MOVEMENTS

protests were a key part of the lockdown, many people felt the need to make a stand as we were all trapped in our houses but why was this.

The Pandemic caused many people locked in their houses to take time to not only think about new recipes to try or new languages to learn but important social and political issues

when speaking to university students about their opinions on a protest a student shared their thoughts saying; “Protests are the only way to keep society democratic. the right to protest is essential"

Clearly, people took time to re-evaluate their political beliefs and morals when the world came to a standstill but what protests actually took place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

BLACK LIVES MATTER

The black lives matter movement has sought to reach social justice for black and brown people for centuries. During the lockdown, many people took to the streets marching for justice, this was all prompted by the many different instances where the police used their power to take the lives of many people.

The lost lives prompted a major reaction from the public but in the midst of the covid, 19 pandemic students were forced to get creative with the ways in which they protest.

internet activism took off during this period and hashtag activism led to a rise in students protesting from the comfort of their own homes.

HASHTAG ACTIVISM

Different hashtags you can use to be a part of the movement

activism took a turn to technology during covid but is this better or worse and does this impact the way that we protest and the laws we can change.
