COVID's Impact
During COVID we couldn't invite our families round for a simple BBQ in the summer, or host family garden parties for those lucky enough to have birthdays with good weather! I don't know about you but I LOVE having my whole family round and preparing a buffet and drinks for everyone to eat in the garden, or lighting the BBQ with members of my family and enjoying the small amount of sun we get in the UK. Not being able to do this during COVID made me realise how special these small events are for spending time with your family, especially older members who you often take advantage of. It might seem uncool but, I think it's really special to spend this time with family and I think a lot of people have realised this during the pandemic so, we're glad they're back!
The Journey to Now
There were many milestones during the pandemic that effected the amount of people we could or couldn't have in our garden. Let's reflect on that.
March - June 2020 = Lockdown 1! WHAT?! Only allowed to leave the house for essentials such as food shopping
July 2020 = Gatherings of 30 people permitted
September 2020 = Rule of 6 was introduced
November 2020 = Lockdown 2!!! People could meet one person outside from their "support bubble"
December 2020 = The Tiered System
January - March 2021 = Lockdown 3! UGH! Could meet in "support bubbles"
March - July 2021 = Leaving Lockdown! Even tho we're basically still leaving gradually!!! BUT, we can have garden parties again now! YAY!

It's always good to look your best, especially when you're seeing people you haven't seen for months, even if it is just your family.

Preparing Yourself
Don't be worried about seeing your extended family again. It can be hard, especially since we've spend so much time in our own company, but let yourself enjoy getting to know everyone again on a personal level. Talking about your future plans is a good way to connect with someone again and it will help your family keep up to date with your life, and also give them the change to congratulate you, which is always nice. Enjoy the food and the company of your family again and most of all, enjoy the SUN!
