3 Ways to save money as a university student

Are you a university student looking to make the most of your experience but are worried about money? This blog will talk you through the main things to consider when trying to save money as a student.

1) Budget your income

This includes

- Knowing what money you're going to intake monthly

- planning how much of this money need to go towards necessities

- finding a way to cut back on non-essentials you don't need and can go without

- Seeing how much you have leftover to spend on yourself

- giving yourself a weekly budget

- Not spending over that amount

- Sticking to the plan

Budgeting can be a difficult part of any university student's life however if done successfully it can help with de-stressing finances and making university manageable and affordable.

2) No Waitrose. YES Aldi.

Yes, Aldi. if you're accustomed to Waitrose or M&S throw that out the window. If you're looking to save money and make the most out of your student loan while at university Aldi is the one for you. Speaking from personal experience alone I was able to spend only £30 at Aldi which bought me over two weeks of ingredients for 2 weeks of meals. not spending an extortionate amount on food is what is going to make you able to afford most of the luxuries that you want while at university. if you can find a way to live comfortably by spending less, why not?

3) Handling FOMO

Friends flatmates and in the rarities even lectures can make you want to do something fun however it requires funds you are not sure if you have. saying no is a vital skill that any university student will learn very quickly and the key to this is not giving into FOMO. Obviously, any student would love to be out enjoying themselves every night of the week, doing fun escape rooms and going bowling with friends however the key to enjoying university is finding fun things to do that don't require any money. bonding with people while not spending and money and finding opportunities to do things you wouldn't normally do is what builds relationship s and friendships at university.
