We’ve all been there. Life gets overwhelming, our part-time job is demanding more hours, studies are taking over our lives and beneath all the pressure we feel like we’re treading water and keeping our heads above the surface. We’re slowly easing our way back into face-to-face life, and we’re all feeling the effects of it. The circles under our eyes are getting darker, the girls on Instagram are getting prettier and all we do is sit and eat our dinner flicking through social media comparing us to them. But what if I told you, you can change that drowning feeling and make you feel like the hand that drags you out of the deep water.

Take a night for you. It’s easy to say but just as easy to do. Take a shift off your job, put your laptop away from your uni work and run yourself a bath or a hot shower. Light your favourite candles, cook yourself your favourite dinner, put on your favourite series, apply that face mask, sit back and relax.

Prioritising yourself for one night is more efficient than stretching yourself further than you’re capable of. Reset for one night and restart tomorrow, there’s no harm in giving yourself a breather from whatever it may be. The next time you find yourself scrolling through the endless influencer posts online, you will be your own influencer, feeling fresh and ready for whatever next week throws at you.

UniSphere’s Self Care Picks of the Week on a Student Budget:

  • Hotel Collection No.3 Pomegranate Candle, Aldi, £3.49

"These candles are great and a fraction of the price of Jo Malone. The smell lingers in the air and it does burn equally!"

  • Revolution Skincare Pink Clay Detoxifying Face Mask, Superdrug, £7.99

"The most amazing results that really surprised me. I don't normally review skincare but I couldn't not with this product."
